The Mary Baker Eddy Library The Mary Baker Eddy Library archives contain original materials that richly document the life and 19th-century world of Mary Baker Eddy. The collections are central to the Library and include letters, manuscripts, photographs, artifacts, books, periodicals, and other materials available for in-depth research. The Research Room of The Mary Baker Eddy Library is open for the public to access the Library's collections of original historical materials related to Mary Baker Eddy and Christian Science. Researchers will fill reasonable requests for photocopies. The copying of some material may be restricted, especially items that are bound, unprocessed, or are exceptionally fragile. The Research Room reserves the right to refuse copy requests. The fee for copies is 25 cents per page plus a $5 service fee per 50 pages. The Reference Room is a specialized library whose staff, texts, and resources support inquiries by academics and the general public. At its core are works relating to the life, work, and ideas of Mary Baker Eddy, including an on-site electronic database of the Mary Baker Eddy Library archives. These materials are supported by collections emphasizing the broader context of American history, women, religion, the history of science, and the relationship of science and religion. The Reference Room also has two specialized subject collections - Women in Leadership and Spirituality and Health. The Reference Room lends materials through Interlibrary Loan to academic, special, and public libraries worldwide, with the exception of fragile or rare materials, which must be used at the Library. Reference and circulating collections are housed in the Reference Room as well as a wide selection of trade magazines and academic journals and a small reading area for young people. Since the Library serves as a learning environment for individuals wishing to read, study, and research, we request visitors to respect the need for quiet by turning off cell phones and moderating conversation.
