Little Folks Day School conducts Part Time and Full Time Preschool and Kindergarten Programs for children of the ages 2 years 9 months to 6 years.
Children are usually enrolled on the basis of a personal interview which includes the parent(s), the child and the Director. The interview affords the parent(s) and the child the opportunity to visit and learn about the school, and it gives the Director the time to become acquainted with the child.
Curriculum
Little Folks Day School offers Full Time and Part Time Preschool and Kindergarten programs that prepare children for kindergarten and first grade.
Each program has a variety of developmentally appropriate options and activities designed to stimulate the minds of the children.
These include math, science/nature, and literacy activities; arts and crafts; music; dramatic play; sports; playtime; outdoor activities and field trips. All of our programs are organized for maximum fun and learning to ensure the child enjoys each moment he/she spends in our care.
We believe that the curriculum should be made up of wholesome, enjoyable, and pleasant activities that develop learning.
The curriculum should not be considered as a separate entity but rather as a continuation of learning and valuable experiences first encountered at home. We hope the curriculum will act as a continuation of comfortable childhood experiences which will be nurtured by the skillful teachers through carefully developed skills that will be useful in later life. These will involve thinking, perceptual, motor and social skills which should culminate in making children conscious of learning and cognizant of what they have already learned; what they have not learned; and what they are now learning.
