The Hay Clinic, P. C. Michelle Hay Licensed Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist Living Well With Acupuncture The Theory of Acupuncture Acupuncture has been used throughout the world for thousands of years, yet it remains progressive enough to help treat today's health issues. It is a healing modality that combines art with medicine. Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on the idea that there are five major "organs" in your body. Each one of these organs has it's own system. They control certain aspects of your life right down to the food that you crave. These systems work together to make a person whole. When one "organ" system gets overworked or misused it throws off the balance of the entire cycle of inter-working systems. Having an off-balance system results in an off-balance body. This is how disease presents itself in a Traditional Chinese Medical model. Commonly Treated Disorders Stress, Anxiety and Depression Respiratory Disorders -wheezing, shortness of breath, chronic cough Gastro-intestinal Disorders - heartburn, IBS, colitis Neurological issues - post stroke numbness or lack of mobility/function of limb(s) Sleep disorders - difficulty falling or staying asleep Pain management - pre or post surgery, acute or chronic pain GYN Issues - infertility or increasing fertility, painful or irregular periods Menopause symptoms - hot flashes, night sweat, poor energy and emotional "swings" The first treatment begins with a detailed intake including visual tongue diagnosis and pulse palpation. This allows me to develop a diagnosis that is unique to you. By treating the "root" of your problem, symptoms will be alleviated and balance restored to your body. Michelle Hay has worked in several acupuncture clinics in public health settings including Pathways in Boston and varying recovery shelters. Michelle practises Chinese Herbal Medicine, and Chinese Style Acupuncture. Her clinical goal is to provide a helpful, healing environment along with affordable and convenient healthcare. She is committed to working to educate and care for the community. This clinic is gay, lesbian, and gender friendly.
