Bella Luna Restaurant
Fabulous Food and Drinks!
From the delicious fresh salads to the wide array of pastas and entrees, and of course, the signature gourmet pizza, Bella Luna "offers upscale food without an upscale attitude" (Theresa Edo, Digitalcity.com). Whether you're on a romantic date for two, taking the kids out to dinner, celebrating a birthday with a group of friends, or dining with colleagues, Bella Luna is the place to be. Bella Luna is proud to introduce Executive Chef Omar J. Ramirez. This popular neighborhood dining destination has become well-known for its casual approach to high-end food enters a new era with this young visionary at its helm. “Chef Ramirez has studied among the best and brightest in the world,” notes owner Katherine Mainzer, “and we are thrilled to introduce his artistry to Boston.” Ramirez plans to re-define Bella Luna’s classic Italian food by adding a modern spin. He uses only the freshest seasonal ingredients, striking a balance between simplicity and sophistication by keeping the focus of any plate on a few select flavors. Ramirez’s democratic philosophy towards dining fits perfectly with Bella Luna’s reputation as a restaurant where all are welcome. “Everybody should be able to experience cutting edge fine dining,,” states Ramirez, remembering days when he had to save up in order to dine at downtown restaurants. “Excellent food can be affordable AND served in a casual friendly atmosphere.” Chef Ramirez, a native of Jamaica Plain, has built an impressive career in 24 years. He began cooking in restaurants at the age of 12, and has traveled and worked throughout the United States gaining knowledge of different regional foods along the way. He has earned a Bachelors and Associates degree from Johnson & Wales, worked under Chef Todd Richter at the four-star Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina, and was certified in Viennoisserie (French Pastry) at the San Francisco Baking Institute. At the World Pastry Forum in Las Vegas, Ramirez studied with Albert Adria, Pastry Chef for El Bulli, currently the hottest restaurant in the world. Returning to Boston, Ramirez apprenticed at Clio under Chef Ken Oringer. Chef Ramirez brings a new international sensibility to Jamaica Plain’s renowned restaurant scene. Check him out at Bella Luna, where fine dining and comfort food find the perfect middle ground.
