Arlington Tutoring
Motivation Support Success Serving families from Arlington and the surrounding communities of Lexington, Belmont, Cambridge, Newton and Winchester
Arlington Tutoring is owned by Andrea Marquant, Ed.M. Andrea has worked as a Reading and Learning Specialist in the Boston area for over ten years, serving children in grades four through twelve.
Andrea received her Bachelor's degree in English from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. Andrea continued her studies at Harvard University, where she taught reading and writing in the Jeanne Chall Reading Lab for one year. Andrea earned a Master's degree in Education from Harvard in 1998, specializing in language acquisition and literacy development. Andrea also holds Massachusetts certification as a Professional Teacher of Reading for all levels, as well as English Teacher certification for grades five through twelve.
Academic Tutoring
Private tutoring is available in multiple academic and AP subjects for middle and high school students.
Individualized instruction is designed to improve learning skills and academic success by supporting writing, reading comprehension strategies, college essay planning, test preparation, organizational and study skills, time management and motivation.
Summer Reading Program
Don't let your child's summer reading requirements become a chore!
In this personalized program, students will complete their required summer reading while reinforcing important academic skills. Students work privately with a certified reading specialist to practice reading comprehension strategies, summarizing skills, goal-setting and time management.
Workshops
Academic workshops are offered in SAT preparation, college essay planning, vocabulary building, AP exam preparation, reading comprehension strategies, writing, and back-to-school skills.
Test Preparation
Test preparation classes are offered for the SAT, PSAT, SSAT, ACT, MAT, GRE, TOEFL, and AP exams.
Writing Center
Our classes and workshops are designed to strengthen students' academic writing skills.
Students will learn the fundamental aspects of writing composition, as well as specific strategies for writing effective research papers and essays, such as those required for college admissions, the SAT exam, and AP courses.
Assessment
Diagnostic assessments are available upon private consultation.
