Our design philosophy is simple - we emphasize the balance of Form, Function, Fit and Finish. We strive for beauty and simplicity in form, but must always remember that it is an article of furniture to be used often - if not every day - for a perfectly ordinary purpose. It must adhere well to its stated function. The Fit refers not only to the craftsmanship of the joinery, but also the proper engineering to ensure structural integrity while maintaining authenticity to the design concept. The joinery must be clean and elegant in design, strong and durable in engineering, flawless in execution of craft.
We believe in a balance of modern machinery and traditional hand tool work. Modern precision power equipment is marvelous and efficient for many of the time consuming tasks like milling and chopping stock. But for many tasks, particularly the fine joinery work, final smoothing and finishing, there is no adequate substitute for the human touch.
Our furniture is important to us. How we choose to adorn our home or office says a great deal about who we are and what we value. And articles carefully handcrafted from natural materials are intrinsically more beautiful than machined items made from processed materials.
Custom Design Process. The process I like to follow is a simple and straightforward 3 step procedure that ensures the client receives exactly what they want. It's a partnership, really.
Step 1. This is essentially a discovery process where we learn from you just what your wishes are: the overall size and function of the piece; the room it will reside in (textures, colors, other furnishings), etc. You may have photos from a magazine or a drawing of pieces you like, features you like and so forth.
Step 2. Within about a week we'll respond with a concept. There will be sufficient detail to highlight all the important design features and functionality and allow you to make an informed decision that this is what you want. We'll provide a preliminary estimate of cost and lead-time.
Step 3. A couple of weeks later we’ll deliver detailed scaled design drawings with all the dimensions, materials, hardware, and finish specified. If you desire, we will be happy to provide the full scale design drawings, shop drawings and cut lists.
We use only the finest hardwoods and exotics. Each board is carefully examined and individually selected for color, texture and grain pattern to determine its best use, both aesthetically and structurally, for the piece. Boards for panels, for example, are chosen to ensure the grain pattern and color is compatible and pleasing.

Careful attention is given to every detail to ensure a exquisite finished work.
