Our Mission
The Work Place is dedicated to fostering economic growth in the City of Boston by developing high quality workforce development services for two sets of customers: Job Seekers and Employers.
In addition to a friendly and professional environment in which to work, we offer a wealth of resources, including computer skills workshops, employment workshops, and access to state-of-the-art research tools and the Internet.
The Work Place provides area businesses a convenient one-stop source for skilled workers and training options. Account representative work closely with employers to locate qualified job applicants, upgrade the skills of their existing workers, navigate training and economic development programs, and provide up-to-date, online labor market information. Employers can also benefit from the many free services at The Career Place including posting current job openings and using conference rooms for on-site recruiting.
For Employers
The Work Place offers a comprehensive menu of services to meet your workforce development needs. Our goal is to assist you in identifying and recruiting qualified and skilled employees.
Free Services:
- Recruitment Sessions - In need of qualified employees? Going through a growth spurt? A recruitment at The Work Place can help meet your hiring demands. The Work Place offers customized recruitment sessions and informational events for employers at our Winter Street offices. We will coordinate all facets of your organization's event, including the recruitment and pre-screening of qualified candidates (according to your specifications), scheduling of our facility's conference rooms, and the services of a Work Place staff member to assist with facilitation from beginning to end.
- Job Postings - Post your jobs on our statewide database. In addition, we will post your listing on our Hot Jobs Board in our Career Resource Library.
- Candidate Referrals - Short on time? The professionals at The Work Place will pre-screen applicants, and send you only job-seekers who meet your requirements.
For Job Seekers

- Customer Action Plan (CAP) one-on-one session with a Work Place staff member

- Access to Occupational and Skills Training (The Work Place assists eligible individuals to access occupational and skills training courses which are paid for by the Commonwealth)
