Artists + Authors
We regularly host art shows by noted contemporary artists. Artists + Authors is a member in good standing of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Antiquarian Booksellers Association. The Artists + Authors bookstore and art gallery was originally established in 1984. Artists and Authors occupies approximately 3000 square feet of retail space and is located at 108 Washington Street in the historic seaside town of Marblehead, Massachusetts. We have roughly 30,000 books in our shop with more than 15,000 books listed on-line. We have a broad-based inventory in categories ranging from Antiques to Zoology. Our stock of general fiction is among the best you will find anywhere, with first editions for collectors and less expensive reading copies to fit any budget. The store is well lit and well organized, with plenty of space for browsing. The shop consists of three separate areas. The first is an art gallery featuring original paintings, prints, and works on paper by noted 20th century artists. We also have an extensive inventory of vintage maps and nautical charts. The second area is our Rare Books section featuring rare first editions, signed and limited editions, and other old and hard-to-find titles. The final area is our general purpose, out-of-print book section. Encompassing close to 30,000 titles, our shop houses one of the largest used book inventories in New England.
Marblehead Our town, Marblehead, offers many charms for non-bookish people, as well. The winding Colonial streets offer an array of shops and restaurants. The harbor and sea views are spectacular. We highly recommend a visit to the Lee Mansion, one of the finest Colonial-era houses your can tour, and the Marblehead Historical Society, with a marvelous display of paintings by primitive artists J.O.J. Frost. In addition, Marblehead Arts Association, housed in the beguiling Hooper Mansion, is always worth a visit.
