One Of America Oldest and largest Antiquarian Bookstores (Established 1825) History The Brattle Book Shop was founded in the Cornhill section of Boston in 1825 and has been in the hands of the Gloss Family since 1949. Over the years George and his son Kenneth built this shop into one of the largest antiquarian bookshops in the country. Ken gives frequent talks on the topic of old and rare books, with appearances scheduled in and around the Boston metro area. You never know what treasures might be in your own attic! We Buy: Scholarly non-fiction Literature Antiquarian and rare books Maps and prints Leather-bound books in good condition Autographs, manuscripts, and letters Certain magazines Anything that we find interesting and salable Housecalls & Appraisals We travel daily (sometimes considerable distances) in order to purchase books, from large estates to single volumes. Please call and ask for more details. We welcome lists, inventories, photographs, emails and videos to help us assess your collection. The Brattle Book Shop offers a full appraisal service for estate, tax, and donation purposes. For each gift certificate of $50 or more, we'll include our famous Brattle Book Shop coffee mug.
