Charming Pet Portraits from Billy & Frida Studios. Artist Alan Moyes found himself painting portraits of local pets so often that he started Billy & Frida Studios. Billy was the Westie next door who nosed his way through the fence slats to flirt with Frida, the Moyes family cat. |

Billy & Frida Studios
New Zealander Alan Moyes is the founder and Top Cat at Billy & Frida Studios. Alan has been making bold, playful creations in paint and paper for over 25 years. He holds an MFA and has taught art at several American universities. His work is in public & private collections. Billy and Frida have been immortalized in countless Moyes originals, and Alan’s busy painting portraits of his customers’ four-legged friends. How It Works To commission a pet portrait for yourself, a friend, a family member, or maybe someone’s who has been especially kind or helpful, here’s what you do: 1.Find a photo that conveys what a little something special about the pet. 2.Pick one of four portrait sizes:12"x18", 18"x24", 24"x24", 24"x36" 3.Go to our Pet Portrait Gallery and look around to see what you like. Decide what border, border colors and style you’d like from the sample portraits. (12" x 18" is too small for a border, so if that’s the size you want, just pick a style and colors.) We’re very flexible and open to special requests, such as props (toys, bones, a favorite chair) or backgrounds (polka dots, stripes, hearts). Whatever you decide, the Billy & Frida style will always have a touch of whimsy. 4.Download the Billy & Frida Studios order form. 5.Complete the form and mail it, along with a copy of your photograph What’s Next? When we receive your order, Alan will make a color sketch from your photo and send it to you via email (as a PDF) or regular mail, depending on what you specified on the form. Mail us back the sketch, either marked up with any comments, or signed "approved", along with a check for 50 percent of the total cost. When the painting is ready (in three to four weeks), we’ll ship it with a bill for the remaining 50 percent, plus shipping. For information on sizes and pricing visit our pricing page.
