The National Figure Skating Academy “The New Generation of Figure Skating” We strive to develop physical and intellectual abilities to the maximum in our athletes and hope that all participants in the NFSA will walk away with a better understanding of themselves and their goals whether it is to compete in the Olympic Games, develop skills for business and school or to become a high level figure skating coach. Coaches and Trainers: Garrett Lucash - 2005 US Pairs Champion, 4 time World Competitor Dmitry Palamarchuk - 2 time Jr World Pairs Champion, 2002 Olympian, 4 time Ukrainian Pair Champion Mahlon A. Bradley, MD – 2 Time Winter Olympic Games Team Physician Joe Colotti, BS, CSCS – Director of Off Ice Programs Eric Ekelund, MS, LATC, CSCS – Director of Rehab Programs Jeremee Norman – Sports Performance Assistant
Charles River Apparel – The Official Apparel Sponsor of the NFSA Garrett Lucash and Dmitry Palamarchuk designed the structure for the NFSA based on a hybrid of North American and Eastern European methods. All classes are taught in a group atmosphere to provide the athletes with a highly competitive yet social atmosphere and keep costs at a minimum. We aim to provide the ultimate training experience for skaters while keeping parents informed about the sport. Participants will learn: Responsibility Training for one sport on a daily basis will teach an athlete greater responsibility than participating in many different sports. This is true because athletes must deal with the situations presented to them rather than just walking away to another sport when the training starts to get more difficult. Sport is work and we make work fun! Determination We aim to develop in our skaters a better understanding of maximum capability. It is essential to unlock and develop this skill for sport, school and work or business. With a better understanding of determination, a child will find success and accomplishment in any avenue life presents. Physical Ability and Development Figure Skating is such a well rounded sport. The physical attributes developed in figure skating include balance and coordination, strength and explosive power, agility and speed, endurance and flexibility. Health Greater physical capacity improves health. We will also provide information about nutrition so skaters know how to properly fuel their bodies for sport and fuel their minds for a longer healthier life.
