In addition, we offer lessons on guitar, bass, drums, piano, and woodwinds by some of the best professional musicians in the Pioneer Valley. Downtown Sounds also an excellent repair shops for all string instruments featuring Downtown Lutherie's Owen Davidson. We regularly buy and sell used instruments, and take trade-ins. The store features a rental-purchase plan which makes it easy to have a quality beginner's instrument, and revolving charge accounts for our regular customers. Most important, your satisfaction is guaranteed: ask about our seven-day refund or exchange policy. Downtown Sounds also rewards its regular customers with a rebate program, offering 1% back in store credit to those who spend more than $750 per year, and 2% for those whose purchases exceed $1,751 in a year. We are open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, except Thursday when we're open until 8 p.m. Saturdays we're open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. We're closed on all major holidays.

Downtown Sounds Teachers

Jim Armenti is the senior member of the Downtown Sounds faculty. He teaches guitar, mandolin, clarinet and saxophone.Jim teaches a variety of musical styles including rock, country, jazz, folk, and klezmer.

Keith Levreault has a BA in music from Westfield State College, and studied privately with Alan Dawson. He has over fifteen years playing experience, and is well versed in many different styles, including rock, jazz and Latin. He has been teaching at Downtown Sounds for ten years, specializing in developing drumset technique and reading skills. All levels are welcome.

Kate O'Connor has been teaching music and performing in pop/rock, folk, and jazz/blues bands for eighteen years. This wealth of experience, combined with formal training in classical, jazz and rock, performance and theory, provides students with the best knowledge and insights from both the academic and working musician worlds.
