| They simply ripped me off!
I have a small portable printer from Canon, and it needed the ink waste container replaced.
I've called the Printer Fax Technology, Inc. The person on phone answered: "Well, the containers are about $5.00 to $10.00! So, I think.. OK... $5.00 to $10.00 for ink waste container and couple of bucks for labor,.. I guess I can afford this.
At NewEgg.com the sell a brand new printer for $49.95 plus another #30.00-$40.00 for cartridges, so for the money I paid to get ink waste container replaced I could actually buy a brand new printer with cartridges???
If she would tell me this information in advance when I asked over the phone, obviously I would not choose their service. I've asked how much it would cost me the whole thing, and she gave me only the price of the one ink waste container. I never had any service performed on my printer so I did not have a clue that there are 4 parts needed and that they charge 1 hour of labor to replace that. It probably takes a couple of minutes to an experienced technician to replace that, what they charged me 1 hour of labor at rate of $60.00... ridiculous.
The worst part of this story is... I'm unemployed with no source of income, and I badly needed this damn printer to work, because I needed to print some job applications and resumes. I've had to borrow money from a friend to pay this, and good thing he gave me more money than I initially asked, so I was able to pay the bill. I've asked him $30.00 as I believed it should be more than enough. Now I'm in debt with my friend for $86.25! Yeah, I know... when you have money this is just a change, but when you are with no job and no income, this sounds like a fortune.
Well, I've learned my lesson and one thing is for sure. They ripped me off 3 times:
The first time!
The last time!
And never again! |
