Newtonville Books
Newtonville Books concentrates on such areas as History; Judaica & Eastern Religions; Classical & Greek Literature; Biography; Poetry; Contemporary American Literature; Foreign Literature; Southern Literature; Mystery; Art, Architecture & Photography; as well as a wonderful selection of Travel, Cookery and Gardening. Other sections include Business, Psychology, Gender Studies, Mathematics/Science, Reference & Writing, Music, Travel & Adventure Writing and Sports & Health. We have a very efficient special orders system that competes quite well with any other ordering choices. I also enjoy finding those out-of-print books for my customers.
I developed a passion for bookselling after working for John Evans, my friend and mentor. John is the owner of Lemuria Bookstore in Jackson, Mississippi. It is one of the finest bookstores in the country. I also worked at the University Press of Mississippi, a scholarly and literary book publisher. After moving to Boston to earn my MBA, I fell in love with the changing seasons and began to reconsider bookselling as a professional career. As part of my graduate work, I was blessed with the opportunity to write a business plan for this bookstore. It was a joy to see it come to fruition. Many worry about this venture, particularly with the recent plight of the industry. I did not undertake this brave venture lightly, and you can read about why I am optimistic in my essay in ForeWord Magazine and in my interview with ABA Bookselling This Week.
