The Nashoba Youth Orchestra (NYO) was founded in 2004 by a dedicated group of professional musicians, music educators, performers, and parents who share a common vision for a high-quality youth orchestra located in the Nashoba Valley region which will serve the needs of motivated musicians throughout the region. Based in Westford, Massachusetts, NYO currently functions under the not-for-profit umbrella of Westford’s Parish Center for the Arts. |

Nashoba Youth Orchestra
Operating from Westford Massachusetts, the Nashoba Youth Orchestra (NYO) offers the highest quality music making possible in this quaint suburb located in the Nashoba Valley; northwest of Boston Massachusetts; making this orchestra an attractive alternative to weekend travel to the city. September 2011 marks NYO’s eighth season of music making. String musicians through the age of 18 years are welcome to audition.
Mission
The Nashoba Youth Orchestra offers young, dedicated musicians the opportunity to develop advanced performance and ensemble skills that will enable them to reach their fullest artistic potential through the study and performance of the world’s finest musical literature.
Chamber Music
The Nashoba Youth Orchestra Board of Directors announces a partnership with the Alcyon Chamber Ensemble (ACE) to bring new opportunities for chamber music study to music students and to individuals in the community-at-large. Alcyon presents a concert season of chamber music performances of music for diverse instruments. All members of the ensemble are committed teachers as well as performers.
Anyone interested in playing in a chamber group is invited to register for a placement audition. Group placement will take into account each person’s level of ability. All levels are welcome. Pianists are encouraged to apply. Placement auditions will take place at the beginning of each semester. Coaching of individual groups will begin in October or February. Coaching sessions will be held on Mondays and Thursdays, by appointment. Participant’s tuition includes ten coaching sessions, one dress rehearsal and one recital. Adults are welcome to register as well!
NYO membership benefits include weekly orchestra rehearsals, concert performances, and optional participation in the annual concerto competition and in chamber music ensembles.
The Nashoba Youth Orchestra operates under the Parish Center for the Arts, a non-profit organization based in Westford, MA.
