Original Watercolors by Anthony Abate
Artist's Statement The subject matter in most of my paintings are ideas derived from nature and painting in a realistic manner. I very seldom copy nature the same way I see it.. in fact, I sometimes make changes for an interesting composition and to enhance my ideas. However the subject or scene may be. Nature provides the landscape artist with a very big range of interesting shapes, textures and wonderful colors. I spend a very long time painting from nature. Most of my paintings are a result of drawings and painted studies, notes, and photographs that I get together when I'm on location. Nature is the best teacher : that is why I like to paint outdoors and to paint and study directly from nature. Nature is a great inspiration. I share studio space with 10 other artists, and dogs that from who time to time I bump into: in between my Watercolor Workshops, or if we have to get ready for an event like " Open Studios " and " Art in the Park" The best time for me to get work done is very early in the morning when I have a free day to myself....... I get to my studio early in the morning, make a pot of coffee, and I never forget some soft Jazz, just to set the mood... Sometimes a Artist friend, or student will stop by to say hello, and talk about Art. I'm not in Competition with other Artists, so please don't compare me with them. If your an Artist for the sport of winning first prize.... Play Baseball! I paint for the Love of Art. I like to look at what other Artists paint, I learn so much from them.... I feel that we as Artists' have a great gift, and we can all learn so much from each other. It's something we should share. The Watercolor Workshop A transparent medium, watercolor allows spontaneity using various techniques. Nature will be your primary source of inspiration, still-life subjects to investigate color, light, and depth of space, we explore both real and abstract approaches. Your personal expression and the aesthetic enjoyment of painting. Resume' A resident of East Boston, Massachusetts. Attended Bunker Hill Community College, The Massachusetts College of Art, The Museum School of Art, and I have studied with many of the well known New England Artists.
